23rd Annual EMN Congress (Euroacademia Multidisciplinaria Neurotraumatologica)
8-10 May 2018 Pécs, Hungary
Dear Colleagues!
Traumatic brain injury is the number one killer in the first four decades and a significantly growing medical problem in the elderly. Despite of unprecedented research efforts in the last decade funding available for clinical science in this field is still way below the amount allocated for the research of neurodegenerative disorders.
Although several translational and clinical studies have been initiated recently, groundbreaking results are still far from clinical practice.
In this changing landscape of TBI still struggling with lack of fundamental funding from clinical/drug trials and recognition by policy makers clinicians have little choice to improve patient care but standardization of systematic knowledge/evidence based protocols, distribution of best practices and spreading of contemporary monitoring-, treatment- and quality control strategies.
Euroacademia Multidisciplinaria Neurotraumatologica considers it its mission to improve the care for patients with brain and spinal cord injury in Europe and beyond, facilitating the above efforts.
In May 2018 in Pecs, Hungary the 23rd Annual Congress of EMN will focus on clinical research and care for head and spine injury in a multifaceted, multidisciplinary fashion attracting lecturers and papers from the field of emergency medicine, neurointensive care, rehabilitation and neurosurgery/neurotraumatology.
We aim to provide a balanced view of basic and clinical science, clinical treatment and socio-economic aspects of the care for CNS injury.
Pecs is a multicultural city with a special Mediterranean and European mixture of flavors, colors and impressions. The city presents its many faces including the ancient Roman remnants - part of the UNESCO WORLD Cultural Heritage, the progressively growing community of foreign students (now over 4000) picturing a modern university town as well as the cavalcade of multinational festivities between the medieval walls of the historic city-center.
This lovely, friendly city intends to provide a warm atmosphere to host this important meeting aimed to serve as a many-faced bridge between research and clinical care-, Eastern and Western Europe-, and various professions and disciplines to improve our knowledge and care of traumatic central nervous system injuries.
